Birth: What Every Child Needs

Inner Child Work

When a client goes back to the birth experience, you have the opportunity to give them a fresh start in life.

Every Child needs to bond with Mom.  If this doesn’t happen, or the process gets interrupted, it will generate anxiety in the Child.  The Child will be making decisions about what’s happening in this experience that can impact the client for the rest of their life.

No matter what happened the first time, you can give the client a positive first impression of what life is going to be like from now on.

What Does the Child Need?

The Child needs to see, hear and feel loved and accepted by Mom.

The Child needs to be held.
Let the client experience what it’s like to be held by Mom.

The Child needs to make eye contact with Mom.
As Mom is holding the Child, have the Child look into Mom’s eyes and tell you what she notices.  This can be a real moment of revelation for the client!

The Child needs to know that s/he is loved and accepted by Mom.
Have Mom say to the Child, “I love you.  You matter to me.  I’m so glad you were born.”

If Mom can’t say the words, "I love you" to the Child, have the Adult Consciousness (Grownup) step in to take on the role of parent.  In this way, you can provide what was missing the first time – the experience of bonding.

Nice, right?
